GLOBE 2020, “the business summit with global impact,” has been one of the most highly anticipated conferences for Vancouver and kicked off this month on February 10 at the Vancouver Convention Centre (West).  This first edition of this summit took place in 1990 and has been the longest-running meeting of its kind.

Speakers included:

Fisk Johnson – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, SC Johnson

Lucus Joppa – Chief Environmental Officer, Microsoft

Jonathan Wilkinson – Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Canada

Eri Mathy – Head of Growth and Innovation, IKEA Canada

Sarah Chandler – Senior Director of Operations, Product Development and Environmental Initiatives, Apple

With the intent of connecting industry leaders and forming long-lasting partnerships, it is one of the largest sustainable business summits in North America.  Global thought leaders, industry experts and government officials discussed how to unlock global private capital to drive resilient infrastructure investments.  These investments are needed to grow our economy, protect Canadians and their property (Insurance Bureau, Twitter).

GLOBE 2020 involved a great focus on impact, action and outcomes and offered an excellent networking opportunity to thousands of corporate, government and young leaders. The summit was a huge success with showcasing cutting-edge technology to see the future of the clean economy, along with inspiring conversations.  Canada alone cannot transition to a circular economy but by putting emphasis on sustainable solutions and the importance of protecting our planet, we hope this will encourage others to follow, resulting in a global effort.
